The data a scan of a dynamic code records, what it never stores, and how long it's kept.

Only dynamic codes record scans. A static code holds your content directly and never passes through QRdx.

## What a scan records [#what-a-scan-records]

- Country, region and city, worked out from the network.
- Device type, operating system and browser.
- The referring site, if there is one.
- The browser's language.
- Which version the visitor saw, if an A/B test is running.
- A daily, salted hash of the network address and browser, so a visitor counts once per day.

## What it never stores [#what-it-never-stores]

QRdx never stores the scanner's IP address. The hash above can't be turned back into it, and it changes every day.

Bots and link previews aren't recorded.

## How long scans are kept [#how-long-scans-are-kept]

Scans are kept as long as the code exists. Your plan decides how far back you can see them: 90 days on Free, 3 years on Pro and unlimited on Business.

Deleting a code forever deletes its scans.

## Cookies for people who scan [#cookies-for-people-who-scan]

Pages your scanners see, like short links and mobile pages, don't show a cookie banner and don't load QRdx's analytics or support widget.

The only QRdx cookie there remembers a correct code password for 6 hours. Page owners can add their own analytics pixels to their pages on paid plans.

## The QR code scanner [#the-qr-code-scanner]

The [QRdx scanner](https://qrdx.dev/scan) keeps your scan history on your device only.
