Dynamic codes

Create a dynamic QR code

Make a code you can change after printing, from the playground or from your dashboard.

A dynamic code holds a short link that forwards to your destination. You need a free QRdx account. The Free plan includes 10 dynamic codes; Pro and Business have no limit.

From the playground

  1. Open the playground and type your link in Website address.
  2. Under the address, find the Dynamic QR code card.
  3. If you're signed out, click Sign in to make it dynamic and sign in. Your link is still there when you come back.
  4. Click Make it dynamic.

The card now shows your short link and "Scans go to" your destination. Download the code as usual: it now encodes the short link.

Dynamic codes from the playground work for website links. For other content, create a mobile page, which also gets a dynamic code.

From your dashboard

  1. Go to Codes in your dashboard and click New code.
  2. Under Link, choose Website link.
  3. Fill in Destination URL and, if you like, a Title.
  4. Click Create code.

You can then download the code or click View analytics to open it.

On Pro and Business, fill in Custom back-half to choose the end of the short link, for example qrdx.dev/q/spring-menu. It can be 3 to 64 letters, numbers, dashes or underscores.

On Free, QRdx picks a short random ending for you.

When you reach the limit

On Free, only active codes count toward the 10. Archived codes and codes in the trash don't. Archive a code you no longer use, or upgrade to Pro.
