Free WhatsApp QR Code Generator

A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number in WhatsApp, without the person having to save you as a contact first. Add a prefilled message and they can send it with one tap, which suits order enquiries, bookings, customer support and WhatsApp Business catalogs.

The code uses WhatsApp's own click-to-chat link format (wa.me), so it works on Android and iPhone. If WhatsApp isn't installed, the link opens in the browser, where WhatsApp offers to continue to the chat or get the app.

How to create a WhatsApp QR code

  1. 1Enter your WhatsApp number in international format, starting with the country code.
  2. 2Optionally write the message people will send, for example 'Hi, I want to book a table'.
  3. 3Scan the preview to check that the chat opens with your number.
  4. 4Download the code as PNG or SVG.

WhatsApp QR code format

Format

https://wa.me/<number>?text=<url-encoded message>

Example

https://wa.me/14155550132?text=Hi%2C%20I%20want%20to%20book
  • WhatsApp expects the full number in international format with no +, spaces, brackets or dashes. QRdx removes them for you.
  • Drop your national trunk prefix: a UK number written 07700 900123 becomes 447700900123.
  • The message is URL-encoded (spaces become %20), as the click-to-chat format requires.

WhatsApp QR code FAQ

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. wa.me links open chats with both personal and WhatsApp Business numbers.

Do people need to save my number first?

No. The link opens a chat with your number directly.

Is the message sent automatically?

No. WhatsApp fills in the message box; the person reviews it and taps send.

Can I link to a WhatsApp group instead?

Not with this generator. Group admins can copy an invite link (chat.whatsapp.com/...) from the group's info screen and put it in the URL generator. Anyone with that link can join, so share it carefully.
