Free Plain Text QR Code Generator
A plain text QR code stores a message with no special meaning attached: a serial number, a short note, assembly instructions, a clue for a treasure hunt or a product code for a warehouse. When scanned, the phone simply displays the text, and most scanner apps let the reader copy or search it.
Because the text lives inside the code, nothing needs to be online for it to work, which makes it useful for equipment labels, offline events and inventory tags. Keep messages short: every character adds modules to the pattern, and long text makes the code denser and harder to scan from a distance.

The phone shows the text, usually with options to copy or search it. No internet connection is needed to read it.
How much text fits in a QR code?
In theory 2,953 bytes (about 2,900 English characters) at error-correction level L. In practice, keep it under 300 characters so the code stays easy to scan at normal print sizes.
Can I put a link in a text QR code?
Use the URL generator instead. Scanners recognize a link most reliably when the code holds only the address, starting with https://.
Can I format the text?
No. QR codes store plain characters, so bold text, colors and clickable words are not possible. Line breaks are kept.
