QR codes on invoices
The fastest way to get an invoice paid is to remove typing. A payment QR code lets the customer pay from their phone in seconds instead of copying account numbers or UPI IDs from a PDF.
Some countries have their own regulated invoice QR formats, such as the Swiss QR-bill or e-invoicing QR codes required by tax authorities, which your accounting software generates. QRdx is for the other codes on an invoice: payment links, the online copy and your contact details.
What to link from QR codes on invoices
Pay by UPI
In India, a UPI code with the amount filled in lets customers pay from any UPI app.
Pay by link
A code that opens your PayPal.Me or card-payment page with the amount.
View the invoice online
A code on paper invoices that opens the customer portal with the invoice and statement.
Feedback after the job
Tradespeople and agencies can add a review or feedback code to the final invoice.

Static codes are free and need no account, but can't be changed after printing. Dynamic codes and hosted pages can be edited at any time, count every scan, and keep working on every plan, even if you cancel.
UPI QR code
Encodes your UPI ID, payee name and an optional amount and note. Free, static, and the money never passes through QRdx.
Open the UPI generatorPayPal QR code
Opens your PayPal.Me link, optionally with the amount.
Open the PayPal generatorvCard Plus page
A digital business card with photo, contact buttons and a Save contact button.
Your accounts contact as a Save contact card, for clients who need to reach billing.
Build it in the dashboardHow big to print it
| Where people scan | Distance | Minimum code width |
|---|---|---|
| Printed invoice on a desk | 40 cm (16 in) | 4.6 cm (1.8 in) |
| PDF invoice on a screen | 50 cm (20 in) | 5.8 cm (2.3 in) |
For a dynamic short link such as https://qrdx.dev/q/aB3dE5f at error correction Q, without the blank margin. Static Wi-Fi, vCard or long URL codes hold more data and need to be larger. Check yours with the print size calculator and the scan checker.
Placement tips
- Put the payment code next to the amount due and the due date, not in the footer.
- If the amount differs per invoice, generate a code per invoice; for a fixed amount, one code works.
- Tell customers what the code does ('Scan to pay ₹4,500 by UPI') so they trust it.
- Use your accounting software for legally required invoice QR formats; don't replace them with a generic code.
Call-to-action copy
A code with a reason to scan beside it gets more scans than a bare code. Lines to print next to yours:
- Scan to pay with any UPI app
- Pay this invoice online
- View your account
- How did we do?
QR codes on invoices: FAQ
Can I put a UPI QR code on my invoice?
Yes. Generate a UPI code with your UPI ID, name and the amount, and add it to the invoice. Customers pay from any UPI app, and the payment goes straight to your account.
Does QRdx make Swiss QR-bills or e-invoice QR codes?
No. Those formats are defined by banks or tax authorities and are generated by accounting and e-invoicing software. Use QRdx for payment links, contact cards and online invoice links.
Is a payment QR code on an invoice safe?
It is as safe as printing your account details, with fewer typos. Customers should check the payee name their app shows before paying, so make sure it matches your business name.
